What We Do

Driving Journeys Towards Independence.

Children’s Clinic

This is conducted twice a week and addresses varied childhood disabilities including those children born with HIV. An average of 20-25 children is attended to per session. Children are also picked and dropped after therapy sessions. Besides physiotherapy and occupational therapy services, children also benefit from outdoor therapy services.

Residential facility

CheSwa has a 16 bed inpatient facility and admits clients from all parts of the country. Priority is usually given to those from far and cannot afford to come as outpatients and with more severe conditions that need intensive therapeutic intervention. As residential clients their needs are enormous and require adequate resources to ensure that all basic needs are catered for.

Out-Patient Services

5 days a week services are provided to both adults and children. The organisation has a 14 sitter vehicle that picks clients from their residential locations within a 20 km radius to access services and delivers them back. Children clients and their caregivers are collected from their respective homes on Tuesdays and Thursdays for therapy sessions

COUNSELLING AND SUPPORT

In order to ensure that our clients receive a full package of services, they (clients) are provided with psychosocial counselling and support, TB Screening and HIV Testing. The Home has linkages with different organizations and health institutions in the country and when a need for referral arises, our clients are referred for further treatment and support.

Out-reach

Cheshire Homes in partnership with Cabrini Ministries runs an outreach programme in the Lubombo Region covering Siphofaneni and surrounding communities. Two times a month, Cheshire Homes visits these communities to provide rehabilitation services to children with disabilities both at the Centre and in their different homes. The goal of the outreach program is to decentralize the services.
